Damn man that sucks! Good to hear you're okay though! Were you doing something you weren't supposed to be doing like driving on a curvy road too fast? Or just like a freeway on or off ramp? I hope insurance doesn't call shenanigans on you say it was reckless driving.

Fuck this sucks!

I kept the shift knob, gonna put it in a 2010 wrx I have my eyes on.

Not gonna part it out, don't feel like buying it off the insurance.

It was the 78 to 5 south.

I am actually making money on this deal because it was worth more than I owed on it, so that takes the sting out a little bit.

I still am not sure how the tires broke loose, I have taken the on ramp well over 300 times in my life and never got the tires to screech at all. I think the combo of cold tires that were nearing end of life, and being in commuter mode and not drive fast mode the rear end just came around and then it hopped side to side before I shot off into the tree, was only going about 20mph when I hit the tree.

I keep seeing the entire thing in my mind and cursing myself for being an idiot....

Thanks for all the kind words. I have hurt myself way worse crashing my mountain bike, car wrecks are easy, lol.

I thought more about it and I am contacting the insurance to see how much it would be to buy it for a possible conversion, fix or part out.

Just got the quote back from the insurance on buying the car back and I think I am going to do it, just have to discuss it further with the wife tonight.

For now I think I wanna start to tear it down and see about putting it back together as i have the money, and if it looks to be too much then I will see about parting it out.

$2700.

I am pretty sure I could part the motor and tranny for more than that if I really needed the money, but I think i can do most of the work and just fix the car over the next year or so as I have teh monies.

Buy it back and part it out. Or find a WRX (wagon) and shove all the good bits inside. Then sell the WRX 5MT parts.

You will thank me later.

Sad to hear all this but hey it does not look to bad to get a frame straightened its only about $700 thats what it cost me. The the bumper beam is about 200. From there looks like 2 maybe 3 core supports need fixed. About $150 each so all and all I would say pretty good deal for you!
