Default 6spd swap or built 5spd?

So im on my third tranny, my brother is on his third tranny we are booth putting down about 300whp (no awd dynos is the south so its an estimate) we both have our last broke 5spds sitting in the my shed, and we are wondering which is stronger and built 5spd or a stock 6spd. we are both shooting for about 400whp and really dont want to chew through transmissions when we get there. thanks guys i hop yall can grant me some wisdom.

My brothers first tranny was some what my fault, I learned the hard way that a WRX tranny isnt a EVO tranny, his second tranny was him sliding around, he might of only broke the throw out bearing but he went ahead and got a 04 tranny with thicker gears. as for me, my first tranny was shit from the start, i bought the car and on the way home 1st and 3rd started to grind, so scrap that tranny on on to a ebay tranny (bad idea) i put this tranny in and it had a humming noise and i noticed a leak under it after driving, pulled that one out and took it to subaru and they told me it was crap... so i too have an 04 tranny with gears that are thicker then the stock 02 gears. Crap happens, my car sees lots of dirt roads and dirt to pavement transitions its where i like to drive and the way i like to drive, i know its hard on the car, but i didnt buy the car to be my dd. why? because rally car

a built 5 spd with the right gears is stronger than a stock 6 spd especially if ure gonna buy a used 6 spd. you dont know really how damaged they are and its a lot more expensive to rebuild. i vote build the 5 spd.

Lots of GC8s sitting in junk yards here. Not a whole lot of WRXs though. I'll keep an eye out for Toad
