Default Impressive Service by Reese Tuning on My EVO

I purchased an EVO about 8 months ago and been driving it with a big disapointment. I had Chris's STI as well so drove both of them alternating days to work and trips. The EVO was so slow and had knock light always coming on. I was assured from another source it was just the weather and car needs to warm up. I knew this didn't sound right as the car was so slugish and slow compared to the STI. I had a few coolent issues with thermostat taking a dump and heater core so I decided lets fix this then look into getting tuned. I contacted James and Instantly he was like yeah man come in this saturday and I will take care of you. I was like awesome don't have to wait months to get tuned and haven't seen James in a long time.

When I arrived he was very nice and welcoming. We got the car hooked up to the dyno and did one pull. Guess what a whole 11psi ahahah. Car was a snail and fell flat on its face. He first said this is not right at all as I was laughing my ass off. He went to the car and disconnected the wastegate line and said no pill in here. He said how about we do manuel boost controller to really make this tune worth it. I was like 100% with you. I also asked him if he had stock intake parts laying around for the bracket holder and the bumper piece. He said let me see what I have. He found all the parts I needed and didn't hesitate to install them as he was doing the boost controller.

He then proceeded to dyno the car again only to notice the top end falling flat on face way more then normal stock turbo should. He quickly said hey lets check the plugs something is not right. To my suprise once again he was right one of the spark plugs was toast and another one was basically gone. So it being saturday and him not having the plugs in stock he drove me to the local Mitsu dealership to pick up some new ones. We stoped to get gas in his truck and I offered to pay for his gas and he flat out refused. Very thankful he was able to assist me and plugs where in stock I think they where the last ones as well :).

We got back to the shop and installed the new plugs. Then dyno time again still falling on face but not nearly as much was much easier to minipulate the tune. He goes again something is not right. I go what now?? He says hmm we need to do a boost pressure test. Low and behold the wastegate was holding no pressure dam thing grrrr. He continued to fix that and we continued with boost leak test. We found 4 leaks one huge one at lower intercooler hose and few small ones dealing with intake manifold. We did not have a throttle body gasket so we left that leak for now, getting that fixed tomorrow.

He then continued to tune the car with success and now the car is back to normal. Went from 170hp to 238hp so as you can tell I felt the difference and was very happy.

I am fixing the rest of the boost leaks and necisary stuff tomorrow and will be coming back to James for another tune.

I just want to thank him very much for his service and spending the time to get the car right. I remember the times when cars where not dyno ready they go off the dyno and have to reschedule appointment.

Thanks again James and I will be back.

Merry Christmas Everyone and Happy New Year :)

Chris' car is all good his wife is driving it right now while she is in school. I should have it back in february. Then Chris will be back.

Yes I have an EVO Yellow 2005 not from a dealership got it from a fellow Junkie who was military and got stationed in japan I believe. The car used to be a beast 600hp but the motor blew and it was put back to stock. I got it cheap :).

I am taking it to get the last items fixed today in a few hours can't wait to have it just solid.
