Default Fuel pump speculation

http://www.rs25.com/forums/f14/t1519...ump-stock.html

this is a new single 300lph fuel pump, on rs25 everyone is convinced they need it, but most of them are N/A and ignorant in my opinion, what do you think, when will a 255 just not cut it anymore, yet a 300 will?

They also seem to think the walboro's are prone to failure, yet ive never heard of one failing

255 will run 1000 cc injectors and if your running a street setup with 1000cc injectors at >90% duration you've got a big ass turbo. You dont see many people bigger than a gt35r unless you have a race car. if you have a full race car a 300lph may make sense but usually they run dual fuel pumps instead. but what do i know... nothing

e85 will overrun a 255 AND a 300 with ease. With race gas, 255 is a plenty.

there are many double pump options aswell.

Fuel pumps don't usually fail unless you like to run your tank empty all the time or get shitty gas with contamination.

I just replaced my Walbro 255 with a Deatschwerks 300. The Walbro ran out of "umph" to keep up with my new setup above ~21psi. Watching my fuel pressure gauge drop from 80psi to 60 psi on high boost, AFRs go to 12:1 on pump gas at high rpms and IDCs stop at 68% at the same time was very unnerving lol.

But I do have a HTA 35R with fully built heads and 1200cc injectors.

I saw that Walbro has an "HP" version of the 255 and that there were other options available like the dual pump and Bosch external pump. Aeromotive has their 340 lph pump but they're nowhere to be found at this very moment.

I'll update my old thread on here about my setup I just finished.

I guess to answer this question in respect to Subaru 2.5L motors, I would say that a regular Walbro 255 would need to be upgraded when you dramatically increase volumetric efficiency through building the heads. At what point in a head build does this happen, I don't have information to say anything about that.

Oh if you do have built heads, make sure you have other fuel components that can keep up. I had to go up to 1200cc injectors along with the Deatschwerks fuel pump. But fortunately you can still use the stock fuel pressure regulator.
