Default wheel offset?

So what do i need to look at as far as offset goes when i got to by rims, i want a offset that will allow me to upgrade to 4pot 2pot breaks one day... and while im asking whats the biggest i can go with out scrapping.... i was looking at some gold rotas they are 17x8.5 with a +35 or +44 offset.. any other suggestions?

Stay within the +44 45 range.

edit: You can do a +48 also with 4 get in the 30's and start having to modify stuff. But then it aint a problem if you dont mind the hassle.
